Plan parking before moving the small stuff
Move cars, motorcycles, and other vehicles out of the cleaning area. Pick a permitted parking spot that leaves the crew access to the driveway. If your neighborhood restricts street parking, settle on another location before the appointment.
Think about who needs to leave during the visit. A car in the garage may be out of the way, but it still has to cross the driveway to get out. Move it beforehand if someone will need it. Tell other drivers in the household where to park when they return.
Clear the surface and its edges
Walk from the garage to the street and collect the things you can move safely:
- Bikes, scooters, balls, and other toys.
- Door mats, loose rugs, and footwear beside the garage or entry.
- Light chairs, small tables, and freestanding decorations.
- Small movable pots and plant stands.
- Trash and recycling bins, once collection is finished.
- Loose tools and garden items resting on the concrete.
Use a storage spot outside all the agreed cleaning areas. If the front walk is included, keep it clear too. For example, move bikes into the garage before closing it, and put bins in an accessible location away from the driveway—not across the gate the crew needs.
Arrange heavy or fixed items separately
Large planters, basketball hoops with weighted bases, trailers, and stored building materials need a plan. Send a photo and explain what cannot be moved. Agree whether it will stay in place, be moved by someone you arrange, or affect the area to be cleaned. Do not assume the cleaning crew will move it.
Leave fixed equipment, attached hoses or cables, and anything connected to a utility in place for discussion. Preparation should not turn into disconnecting equipment or dragging heavy objects across the driveway.
Keep a route in and out of the house
Choose an entrance household members can use without crossing the active work area. If there is no alternative entrance, explain that before work begins so access can be coordinated. Keep the chosen route free of the belongings you have moved.
Keep children and pets away from the work area. Equipment manufacturer Mi-T-M’s safety guidance warns against children playing around operating pressure washers and directing spray toward people or pets. Plan their location before gates or doors need to be opened for the crew.
Leave a short handoff note
Before the visit, share any exception to the clear-driveway plan. For example:
“Both cars will be off the drive. The front walk is included, so the bins will be by the side gate. The large planter cannot be moved. We need access through the side door during the visit.”
That is more useful than discovering an obstacle after work starts. Use it alongside your agreed pressure-washing scope. If you are still deciding when to book, read how often a concrete driveway needs cleaning.
